Our Theory of Change

Choosing peace begins within. When we practice personal peace, we carry those practices and inner awareness into our interpersonal relationships. As we build and engage healthy, peaceful relationships, we cultivate peaceful communities. As we cultivate and connect communities who choose peace, a critical mass of everyday peacebuilders will effect systemic change globally. personal, interpersonal, community, and global peace practice interconnect and together form our practice of peace leadership

We believe change actualizes through how we practice peace leadership. We engage in contemplative practice in the presence and support of community. We listen deeply, give space to, and promote understanding of those whose voices are not always heard or centered. We engage in compassionate listening, storytelling, and education to connect with those who are different from us and to embrace the experiences of others. We stay informed about peace practices around the world and gain inspiration from models of peace leadership across cultures and identities. We uplift grassroots leaders trusting that when given access to implement and share their visions of peace widely, their community practices lead to sustained, transformative change.

As we practice peace leadership in community, inner and outer transformation thrives. We hold space, open avenues, and build capacity for everyday individuals to grow and live as peacebuilders and to be globally interconnected. These deep relationships to one’s self and others built on understanding, compassion, and love inspire and expand awareness of the interconnectedness of all living beings, and enable our individual and collective capacity to end violence in all forms, from the personal to the global.
