Follow our journey through the Holy Land!
The Euphrates team is off to experience Transformation in the Holy Land and we can’t wait to share our adventure with you!Our group will be spending 15 days traveling through Israel and the West Bank, exploring ancient Biblical sites and examining the current Middle Eastern political and social landscape. During our visit, we’ll have the opportunity to meet with more than 20 groups that will help us better understand the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.Starting in Jerusalem, we’ll set the stage with a comprehensive tour of the Old City and meetings with several groups working to bridge divides between Israelis and Palestinians. We’ll continue on to Bethlehem to delve deeper into Palestinian culture and politics, including visiting a Palestinian refugee camp as well as meeting with Jewish settlers who live across the green line. Heading north to the Galilee region, we’ll visit religious sites and Jewish communities before concluding our time in Tel Aviv, to interact with peacemakers who are working to build bridges from both sides. We’ll be exposed to a variety of perspectives from the grassroots to the government level as we listen intently to the Israeli and Palestinian narratives. Albert Einstein’s quote will serve as a reverberating theme throughout our trip: “problems cannot be solved at the same level of thinking at which they were created.” We’ll be challenged to look carefully at the underlying causes of conflict and to think creatively about how solutions can be reached.Following our time in Israel and the West Bank, we’ll spend a week in Jordan, touring Wadi Rum and Petra. We are especially excited to be meeting our 2016 Visionary of the Year, Nousha Kabawat, and volunteering for her organization, Project Amal ou Salam (Hope and Peace). Nousha runs workshops at a school in Jerash for Syrian refugee children that are designed to empower the students and give them hope for the future while teaching them values of acceptance and nonviolence. We invite you to join our journey through social media!
